The first thing Colby emphasized was the RK solutions-based approach when it comes to providing valves to our business partners. The right type and style of valve is what is most important to prevent leaks or failures, so specifying the correct valve for initial installation is key. Our emphasis isn’t on trying to replace current failures, but starting from ground zero by putting the right valve to use for the right service. We give our customers all their options, which include type of valve, body and internal material options, and different manufacturing options to show them a range of price offerings to fit their budget and needs. According to Colby, taking the time to understand the service and external conditions that the valve will see are also critical to ensuring the customer gets the product that they need in the field. At RK we don’t offer a “one type fits all” solution, which is why the knowledge of our sales staff is so critical when meeting with customers, as they know the right questions to ask to make sure we get the right products out. A simple miss by a sales person without intimate valve knowledge on something like the appropriate seat and trim to use on a trunnion ball valve in wet gas service can drastically reduce the life expectancy of that valve, and cost the customer unnecessary money in downtime and replacement costs.
